Organics Processing Plants
Biological Processing of Waste

Composting, Dry-Stabilizing and Anaerobic Digesting
With the highly efficient recycling technologies from Eggersmann and BEKON, you have a wide range of options for biological waste treatment. Turn source separated organics (SSO) or the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) into marketable compost, with or without prior biogas production through anaerobic digestion. You will also find solutions for dry-stabilization, landfill diversion and reduction of CO2 emissions here.
Our Solutions
Wether you want to dry-stabilize or compost organic material there are many different ways to achieve your goal. We will find the solution that fits your demand.
Tunnel Composting
Tunnel composting provides maximum emission control and can be fully automated—from material loading to discharge. Manual feeding with a wheel loader is also possible if preferred. This method ensures complete process control, making it a flexible and reliable solution.
Lane Composting
In lane composting, material is placed in long rows (lanes) and periodically turned by a specialized lane turner. This method also provides full process and emission control and can be fully automated for efficient operation.
Treatment with Membrane
The CONVAERO membrane system offers high-efficiency drying or composting, depending on your goals. The membrane automatically unrolls behind a lane turner and rolls up at the front during operation. Aeration and drainage systems installed in the lane floor ensure excellent process control.
The membrane also protects the material from external contamination, re-infection, and loss due to wind or birds, while maintaining strong emission control.
Composting with Membrane
The CONVAERO membrane system creates optimal conditions for natural composting. It significantly reduces processing time and allows for the production of various compost grades—from fresh compost to fully matured material—based on your needs.
Dry-Stabilizing with Membrane
Biological drying with the CONVAERO membrane is an ideal solution for stabilizing municipal solid waste (MSW) with high biomass content. It can reduce landfill volume by up to 50%.
The heat generated during composting evaporates moisture through the rain-resistant membrane, which lowers the volume of water needing treatment. Percolate is collected safely via the integrated drainage system.
Lowering the water content also simplifies thermal recovery, and with proper mechanical pre-treatment, your dried MSW can even be converted into refuse-derived fuel (RDF).
All of the processes described above can be used to compost either pure biowaste or the biomass fraction of municipal solid waste (MSW).
Modular Design
Each of these systems is based on a modular structure, allowing for flexible scaling. The number of tunnels or lanes can be adjusted to meet the specific capacity needs of your facility.
For membrane treatment, depending on the size of your facility, you can choose between specialized lane turners, windrow turners with fleece winders (for composting only), or compact, non-self-propelled membrane winders.
We offer solutions that are adaptable to facilities of any size.
Dry Anaerobic Digestion
Want to maximize the value of your biowaste?
Start with dry anaerobic digestion to produce biogas—then follow up with drying or composting. This approach allows you to generate renewable energy while still preparing the material for further processing.
